About the product
The ANCHIALO body mask contains all the components, minerals and microflora of Black Sea lye and Black Sea liman mud. The product is a blend of Black Sea therapeutic mud and stabilised Black Sea lye. The mud is filtered and cleansed of impurities so that you can enjoy its proven benefits for the body and skin in the safest possible way.
Intended use: A body mask suitable for every skin type. Penetrating the skin, the trace elements and minerals have a refreshing, toning and moisturising effect on the areas of the body where the mask is applied. It is not recommended for the face, as it dries the skin. If you nevertheless decide to apply it to the face, please do not use a large amount and do not leave it on for a long time.
Directions for use: Place the sachet /without opening it/ in water pre-heated to 38 – 40 degrees Celsius for about 5 minutes. Open the sachet at the marked point. Apply part of the mask to the body in a thick layer with your hand or a brush. For a better effect wrap in cling film and cover with a towel, then, after about 30-40 minutes, rinse off with clean water without using soap or shower gel. Apply 1-2 times a day. A course of 12-14 treatments is recommended.
Storage: At a temperature between 5 and 20 degrees Celsius
Caution: Avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of the reach of children. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water! Carry out a sensitivity test before use! In case of rash or redness – discontinue use of the product! The product contains Black Sea lye, which is why it is not recommended for facial treatment.

Mud therapy
The healing properties of mud have been known since ancient times. Ancient civilisations such as Egypt, Rome, Greece and India used mud to treat a wide range of conditions. Mud has a complex physical and chemical composition. Combined with its electro-thermal properties, it has a beneficial effect on health.
The mud in the town of Pomorie is extracted from Lake Pomorie. The lake was formed after a catastrophic earthquake in 740 BC. The mud in Lake Pomorie is liman mud – dense and black in colour. It has formed over thousands of years and has a distinctive chemical composition, rich in sulphur and iron. Pomorie mud is unique and differs significantly from other liman mud deposits around the world.
The origins of mud therapy in Pomorie
Pomorie mud was rediscovered by Dr Petar Stoyanov in 1905. Over several years he studied its healing properties. A mud therapy centre was subsequently built and the town of Pomorie established itself as a national seaside mud therapy resort.
Conditions treated
Today, treatment with Pomorie mud is practised in two forms – mud therapy and lye therapy. Extracting the mud and the lye requires specialised equipment and technology. Applying them also calls for special apparatus.
Mud therapy is used for
- musculoskeletal conditions – all forms of osteoarthritis, lower back pain, osteochondrosis (bone spurs).
- conditions of the peripheral and central nervous system – disc disorders, plexitis, periarthritis.
- skin conditions – eczema, skin ulcers, scleroderma and psoriasis.
- conditions of the female and male reproductive system – gynaecological disorders and infertility
- respiratory conditions – bronchitis, sinusitis
Lye therapy also treats conditions of the musculoskeletal system, the upper respiratory tract, the female reproductive organs, the kidneys, the urinary tract and more. Mud treatment in Pomorie has been proven to boost immunity, stimulate the reproductive system and support many other functions of the human body. The anti-inflammatory, vasodilatory, antibiotic and muscle-relaxing action of Pomorie lye is well documented.
Methods of mud therapy
Pomorie mud is applied in the form of mud applications and mud baths.
The mud application
Applications are made to the whole body or to a specific area. They are carried out on a special trough-shaped couch lined with plastic sheeting and a canvas sheet. Warmed mud is placed on it and the body is coated with a layer 1–2 cm thick, after which it is wrapped up warmly. Once the treatment is complete, the body is rinsed under a shower and should not be bathed again for at least two hours.

Mud baths
This is a widely practised method. It is carried out in a bath of therapeutic mud diluted with sea water. The skin absorbs more of the soluble chemical substances from the dissolved mud than it does with the mud application method.
